It’s called ultimate ignorance, and it’s a standard term in knowledge economics. It’s the difference between R&D (in which you decide to learn something you didn’t know) and discovery (in which you hit upon something it never occurred to you to explore.)
Having attended a few Landmark events, I can assure you they’re quite good at pointing out things to some people that they don’t know about themselves. Whether those things are true or important is another matter altogether.
Have you heard of the Landmark Forum?
They teach you to understand what you don’t know about what you don’t know …. just talking to someone about this very thing yesterday!
