Hide the Getting started page

If you don’t want to show the Gettting Started page for new client installations you may set the following property using plugin_customization.ini or using policies:

com.ibm.rcp.jfaceex/overrideAutoStart=
     com.ibm.rcp.gettingstarted.GettingstartPerspective

  1. Using plugin_customization.ini is just a shorthand for setting plugin preferences which may also be done using a Desktop Settings documents and the Managed Settings in there.

  2. Hi Mikkel,

just found your tip on hiding the getting started page. But in the german 8.5.2 client inserting the property results in crashing the first start of the client.

We are preparing the client update 7.0.x to 8.5.2, and both new clients or updated clients show this (in my opinion) useless getting started page.

    Are there any additional tips?

    Thanks,

    Jens

  3. I just can’t get this to work. Is the full syntax this:

    com.ibm.rcp.jfaceex/overrideAutoStart=com.ibm.rcp.gettingstarted.GettingstartPerspective

I've tried both in the plugin_custmization file as well as with managed settings, but no dice

  4. I tried both. Using a policy I can successfully push the required setting to the client. However, the Getting Started page launches BEFORE the policy is applied…

That leaves only  the plugin_customization as a valid alternative (which worked for me).
