Disapointing news on the timetable for Hannover - release date pushed back?

I got quite disapointed when talking to a former IBM colleague of mine yesterday when he said that the public Hannover beta had been pushed back to 2nd quarter 2007 and the gold release pushed back to end 2007. From comments on Ed Brills blog I had gathered that a public beta would be available start of November 2006 (60 days from 1 September 2006) and from other discussions online that the gold release would be available mid 2007.

Does anyone have any credible info as to release dates? We need some solid information to tell customers.

Your former IBM colleague is wrong. I don't expect you to "snitch" on them publicly, but if you could put them in contact with me, I'd appreciate it. I am on a conference call right now with our design partners discussing the Beta 1 release, which is coming next month. Gold is still on track for mid-2007.

Of course as a long time Notes coder I wish Lotus all the best to meet the expectation of their customers as the deadlines. There are so many interesting developments going on in JBoss, Eclipse software foundation, Microsoft, Netbeans that I personally don't worry much. The Lotus crowd has to and will finally learn to face the challenge anyhow. In the end constant mutual afirmation that other people don't "get" their tools won't pay their bills.

I hope it gets pushed back indefinitely and never comes out....worst piece of software ever put together.

I guess you are talking about your perception of the current Lotus Notes client or a previous client version. While I agree that the current client has its shortcomings I still believe that the Notes client is a superior collaboration client to many other clients out there.

Also - lets not judge the software before it has been released or we at least have seen a public beta... :-)

Who cares when it gets released? Is it the biggest box of rubbish ever invented and now Ozzie works at Microsoft- God help us... This is the perfect quote 'In the end constant mutual afirmation that other people don't "get" their tools won't pay their bills.'
